Colors & Flavors is a delightful restaurant in the heart of Cotacachi on Calle 9 de Octubre (October 9 street) between Gonsalez Suarez and Bolivar. It’s only a block from Matriz Park with street parking available and several parqueaderoes (pay parking lots) close by.
The oversize black tablecloths with runners down the center and full place settings provided casual elegance for the meal with unique, creative décor all around. However, the tables were a bit small for our somewhat larger frames.
Beyond the almuerzo (local Ecuadorian lunch of soup and an entrée), the menu is quite extensive including salads, soups, beef, chicken, pork, and fish entrees, sandwiches, and a nice selection of deserts. The portions are large for most items. Our group ordered a variety of meals, which ranged from a chicken cordon bleu to shrimp crepes, chicken salad sandwich, a full entrée sandwich and a half portion sandwich. All of it was delicious.
The service was attentive and friendly, although the preparation took longer than expected. Pricing for most items were under $10 for entrees and full sandwiches. A party of 4 was able to enjoy lunch, beverages and dessert for $25. Colors and Flavors should be on your list of reasonably priced restaurants serving a delicious meal in comfort with good service.
